Tips and Trivia

Not everything worth knowing fits a phase-by-phase walkthrough. This page collects gameplay advice, technical notes, and trivia that players picked up after the September 3, 2026 launch and the September 4 patch. All entries are based on Steam discussions, demo feedback, and press coverage. Nothing here is invented.

If you want a route through the whole game, start with how to play and the walkthrough. This page is for the hour when you are already playing and want to fill gaps.

Gameplay tips

Use a mouse from the start. The passport and document objects require a long-press-plus-scroll gesture that laptop trackpads cannot reliably complete. Demo players reported being stuck on papers until they plugged in a USB mouse. The developer acknowledged this was demanding for the demo build and said they would try to improve it, but the full release still works better with a mouse.

Voice replay is part of the reading. Hector (voiced by Netoru Irakusa) and Matvey (voiced by Tetsuto Furukawa) are doing emotional work that text alone cannot carry. Demo players who replayed lines reported catching tonal shifts they missed on the first pass. The studio calls some of Hector’s monologues “jokes from hell” and says you should not take them at face value the first time. Use the voice replay button added in demo patch 1.0.8.

Pill choice is a presentation switch, not a difficulty gate. “Take pills on time” and “Give up treatment” are both Steam achievements. They do not unlock different endings. They change the order memories appear and how Hector’s voice sounds during them. If you want to hear both presentations, play two files.

Click order changes reading, not routes. The window first gives you exile-and-entrapment Hector. Documents first gives you fallen-kingdom-and-aliases Hector. Neither is the “correct” start. Use the memory order planner if you want to compare which objects you spent in which run.

Mini-games are gesture puzzles, not combat. Demo 1.1.3 specifically patched drag, wipe, and hold as separate failure points. When a prompt asks you to interact, try each verb distinctly before assuming the game is stuck. The Next Fest patches added extra hints because testers were bouncing on these.

Technical notes

Demo appid (4683580) is not the product. Steam lists a separate demo with its own appid. If you are troubleshooting an achievement that will not unlock, confirm you are running the full game (appid 4573760) and not an older demo build. The two have different achievement sets.

Fullscreen was broken in early demo builds. If your window snaps back while dragging a volume slider, you are on a pre-1.0.8 demo build. Update through Steam or itch.io. This was noted in the demo changelog.

Character profile line breaks had a bug. Demo players reported biography text looking clipped. This was patched in version 1.0.8. If a character’s past looks unfinished, update the build.

Settings and save/load should not be clickable during dialogue on the full build. This was a demo-era bug. Title-screen settings and an EXIT path back to title were added after Next Fest feedback. If those elements look clickable mid-scene, you are on an older build.

Trivia from press and community

The apartment is deliberately small. The entire explorable space is one rented room. The developers wanted a sealed environment where power structures could collapse without a world map to escape into. The horror comes from what cannot be exited, not from what waits outside.

“Dissolution of My Self” in Japanese (俺の解体史) frames the story as a history of self-dismantling. English preserves the psychological framing; Japanese preserves the historiographic metaphor. Both are valid readings of the same game.

Hector’s “Your body is my only territory” line is the store page hook. Press coverage and player discussions consistently cite this line as the moment the game’s tone clicks. It appears in official marketing and is not a late-game spoiler.

Matvey’s “If you were nothing more than family to me, my child would be old enough to walk by now” is a character establishment line. It confirms uncle/nephew relation, establishes the timeline of exile, and signals that the caretaker role has replaced any possibility of a normal family structure. The FAQ confirms they are really uncle and nephew with theatrical certainty.

The blur rule is the only progression system. Objects do not unlock new areas or items. They fade. The apartment becoming less usable is the game telling you that Hector has less holding him to identity. This is not a metaphor; it is the mechanical statedesign.

No jumpscares does not mean no intense moments. The content warnings list self-harm, psychological manipulation, transgressive intimacy, regression, violence, substance misuse, visceral descriptions, and trauma. Later sequences also use strong screen shake. Photosensitive players should plan breaks.

The September 4, 2026 patch (build 25070968) was the first post-launch update. It addressed launch-day issues and was acknowledged in a Steam Community post by the developer Wendy. The patch notes mention “a huge thank-you to everyone who supported the game at launch.”

Hidden achievements note

Three of the ten Steam achievements have hidden names. They sound like specific interactions rather than route splits: “Join the Talk,” “Whoa——!!!!,” and “Chuu…” Players have reported these are tied to leftover interactions after the main memory chain, voice replay usage, and possibly specific gesture completions. This wiki does not publish unlock recipes for hidden achievements without confirmed sources.
