Dissolution of My Self Matvey
The man who fled with the prince, pays the rent with illegal wiring, and answers to every name Hector throws at him.
Matvey is the other person in the rented room, which means he is also the furniture of Hector’s mind. Dissolution of My Self never lets him be only one thing. Store copy, itch.io text, and Japanese press stack his jobs until the stack is the point. This page keeps to those public facts and to what demo players noticed, without reciting late memories.
Read Hector alongside this. Systems that change how Matvey is spoken about—not who he is—live on pills and choices.
Public bio
Steam: Hector’s uncle and aide-de-camp, who fled with him under an alias after their kingdom fell. He now supports their life as an unlicensed electrician. Unfortunately, Hector treats him as subject, uncle, caregiver, wife, and mother all at once. Signature line: “If you were nothing more than family to me, my child would be old enough to walk by now.”
That line is doing a lot of work. It says the bond is not “mere family.” It says time has already been spent. It says Matvey knows it. itch.io copy describes him as caretaker, aide-de-camp, relative, and servant simultaneously. Famitsu’s reprint of the pitch talks about care, loyalty, blood, and power tangled until Hector’s cruelty and Matvey’s endurance form a cycle neither can escape.
Voice and credits
Matvey is voiced by Tetsuto Furukawa (古川徹人). Press mentions NO, THANK YOU!!! protagonist Haru and Japanese versions of Full Service’s Remi Svensson and Hisami Kondo. Like Hector, he is fully voiced in Japanese regardless of subtitle language. Demo 1.0.8 added character voice volume and replay; use both. Matvey’s lines are easy to under-hear if you treat him as furniture. He is not furniture. He is the person keeping the apartment plugged in.
What he does in the world
After the fall, he is the one who can still touch the outside. Unlicensed electrician is a specific, ugly job: skilled, illegal, necessary, and easy to threaten. It explains money, risk, and why Hector’s confinement is not only psychological. Someone has to talk to the foreign city. Someone has to come back up the stairs. Japanese copy mentions hiding on a third floor. The window still does not belong to Hector.
Aliases matter. They fled under fake names. Papers and passport hotspots in the objects list are not random stationery. They are the remains of a state that no longer exists and a pair of people who should not be easy to find.
How Hector uses him
The horror is not that Matvey has a secret combat class. The horror is the role pile. Uncle is true. Aide-de-camp is true. Caretaker is true. The rest of the titles Hector uses are the transgressive intimacy the content descriptors warned you about. The FAQ says they are really uncle and nephew, and that the game does not contain healthy, normal romantic relationships. Demo players called Matvey a little pathetic, a little mean, and a monarchist—sometimes more royalist than the prince. That last observation is useful: loyalty can be a cage the retainer builds from inside.
The developer asked in public whether the dynamic was yandere or “just abuse” and got answers that it is reasonably both. This wiki is not going to pick a cleaner word than the studio’s own stack.
Playing with Matvey in mind
You do not control Matvey. You control which memories of him Hector is willing to burn today. If you click domestic objects first, you will meet him as a household. If you click documents first, you will meet him as an accomplice in exile. If you take pills or refuse them, you will hear Hector describe the same man through a different medical weather. None of those clicks recruit Matvey as a party member. There is no party.
When an object blurs, a version of Matvey leaves the usable room with it. That is why the apartment feels lonelier even though two names remain on the character list. Subtraction is the relationship.
Warnings
Everything in the Steam descriptors can attach to how these two occupy each other. If uncle/nephew plus stacked intimate titles is a hard stop, stop. The review is written for that decision. If you continue, do not expect Matvey to be rescued by a hidden choice. The endings page will not give him a separate good finale.
When you are done here, either return to Characters or go click a chair while you still can. Matvey would probably fix the wiring. Hector would probably call it love. The game is interested in that disagreement, not in settling it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Who voices Matvey?
Tetsuto Furukawa (古川徹人). Full Japanese voice acting, with English and Chinese text options.
Is Matvey only Hector’s uncle?
He is uncle and aide-de-camp in the official bio, plus caretaker and other roles Hector assigns. The FAQ confirms the blood relation and denies a healthy romance framing.
Can I play as Matvey?
No. You investigate Hector’s memories. Matvey is the other pole of those memories. Systems: walkthrough.
