Demo Changelog

The Dissolution of My Self demo had a public life of its own before 1.0. Steam Next Fest, itch.io devlog posts, and Steam news entries document a short list of features and fixes that still matter if you keep a free build installed—or if you are trying to tell a demo bug from a launch bug. This page is that list, not a datamined commit log.

Play instructions stay on how to play. Demo versus paid scope stays on the demo guide.

Demo v1.0.8 (July 2, 2026)

Steam news after Next Fest feedback:

New features

  • Room text changes for each layer
  • Voice replay
  • Character voice volume adjustment
  • Text speed adjustment

UI / UX

  • EXIT on the main page returns to the title screen
  • Settings button on the title screen
  • Better visibility for operation guides
  • More guidance and hints for mini-games

Bug fixes

  • Line break display in character profiles
  • Uneven voice volume levels
  • Fullscreen setting not applying
  • Crash when loading save data

This is the patch that made the demo feel like a product instead of a festival booth. If your itch.io comments predate it, reread them against this list before you assume 1.0 is broken.

Layer text is also a design tell. The apartment is supposed to rewrite itself as memories leave. See room objects for the blur rule that pairs with those layers.

Demo v1.1.3 (August 2026 news notes)

Steam news summaries for 1.1.3 mention:

  • Drag / wipe / hold getting stuck
  • Save, Load, and Settings looking clickable during dialogue
  • Adjusting volume in fullscreen snapping back to windowed
  • Blank resolution list in that same options path

These are the “I cannot progress” notes. They are why this wiki tells every new player to use a mouse and to update the demo. A passport long-press-and-scroll failure on a trackpad was also reported on itch.io; the developer answered that the demo required a mouse and that they would try to improve it for the formal release.

itch.io 1.1.0 and earlier

The itch.io devlog lists a 1.1.0 update and earlier posts about a downloadable build (May 18, 2026) and the Steam demo announcement (May 25, 2026). If you are on HTML5 in a browser, you are not on the Steam 1.0 branch. Do not mix save files in your head even if the room looks the same.

What the changelog is not

It is not a promise that every 1.1.3 sentence is still true on September’s paid build. It is not a list of story scenes added. It is not an achievement patch. Steam’s ten badges belong to the product page; see achievements.

If 1.0 posts a new news item that reopens fullscreen or gesture issues, that sentence belongs on this hub’s parent Updates page with a 1.0 heading. Until then, treat the bullets above as demo archaeology.

Practical use

  1. Identify your build (itch HTML5, Steam demo, Steam 1.0).
  2. If it is a demo and gestures stick, update, then plug in a mouse.
  3. If menus click during dialogue, you are probably pre-1.1.3 demo.
  4. If load crashes, you are probably pre-1.0.8 demo.
  5. If none of that matches, the hotspot may already have blurred. Check objects.

Testers did the painful work in June and July. You do not need to repeat their bug reports unless you are on their builds. Launch notes for the paid window are on launch. Official contacts if something is actually broken in 1.0 are on Links. If you are still on the free slice, the demo guide explains when to stop demoing and buy the rest of the memories.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Which demo version added voice replay?

Steam news lists voice replay, character voice volume, and text speed in demo 1.0.8 (July 2, 2026).

My drag gesture is stuck. Is that 1.0?

It was a documented demo issue in 1.1.3 notes. Update the demo or launch the paid build, and use a mouse. See how to play.

Do demo patches change the ending?

No. They change UI, audio, and input. The single-ending rule is a design FAQ, not a hotfix. Endings.
